One player who obviously didn’t work out was Marcelo Mayer. Mayer, who has dealt with some health struggles over his professional career, really hasn’t been able to figure things out offensively in Boston.Still, at just 23 years old, it felt like the Red Sox could look past his .220 average on the year with just three home runs, 22 RBIs and 205 at-bats.Instead, he was traded to the San Francisco Giants for reliever Erik Miller, a move that sparks many questions.Speaking about the reason to move on from Mayer, Craig Breslow had a lot to say about it.
