The Detroit Tigers are back on the clock as the 2026 MLB Draft shifts into its second day on Sunday, July 12, with Rounds 5 through 20 staged at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. Day 2 action is set to begin at 11:30 a.m. ET and will not air on a traditional television channel; instead, fans can watch the proceedings through a live stream on MLB.com.
On Day 1, Saturday, July 11, Detroit made four selections in the opening four rounds. The first-round pick came at No. 22 overall: Coastal Carolina right-handed pitcher Cameron Flukey, who has been a standout for the Chanticleers over the past three seasons. Flukey posted an 8-2 record in 2025 and pitched in the decisive College World Series game against LSU, the eventual champions. His selection marks the Tigers’ first pitcher taken in the first round since Jackson Jobe at No. 3 in the 2021 draft.
The White Sox earned the No. 1 overall pick with UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky. Detroit’s Round 2 choice was Kansas shortstop Tyson LeBlanc at No. 61, followed by right-hander Evan Dempsey from Florida Gulf Coast with the competitive balance pick at No. 69. The Tigers closed Day 1 by selecting shortstop Dominic Pellegrin from Holy Cross High School in Louisiana, taken in the fourth round at No. 125.
Looking ahead, Detroit’s Day 2 slate includes a No. 158 pick in Round 5, No. 188 in Round 6, and then the No. 217 slot for Round 7, continuing in one-slot increments through all remaining rounds. The organization will have a total of 16 selections across 16 rounds on Day 2, entering the day with 16 picks to come in the rounds 5 through 20.
Here is the Day 2 draft plan and the Tigers’ expected position ahead of selections. Note that Round 3 has been forfeited due to the Valdez signing, so the Tigers will pick in Round 5 at No. 158, Round 6 at No. 188, and then No. 217 in Round 7, with successive picks moving forward by one slot in each round through Round 20, at No. 607.
