Devin Booker’s All-Time NBA Starting Five Includes Former Suns Teammate

By admin — In News — August 4, 2026

Devin Booker has been no stranger to being in the limelight since joining the Phoenix Suns in 2015 – his fame actually seems to be rising as each year passes by. From releasing new signature shoes in conjunction with Nike, to being a regular in tabloid rumors, it seems as if Booker is the single most prevalent face that keeps Phoenix on the map. The trend of Booker being more publicly visible continued early this week – when the multi-time All-Star revealed his all-time starting lineup after being asked by a fan while playing a round of golf. The lineup shaped up as follows.PG: Stephen Curry SG: Kobe BryantSF: Lebron James PF: Kevin DurantC: Shaquille O’NealThe immediate tie-in to the Suns here is that Booker continues to show love to Durant despite the pair splitting up last summer when the latter was traded to the Houston Rockets. Booker and Durant seemingly remain on strong terms, which points to how highly peers typically regard Booker. The second major observation off of the bat is how intricate of a basketball mind Booker is. There are countless examples of former and current players alike that complete a similar exercise without accounting for fit when reaching the final result. While Booker did choose five ball-dominant players, he also clearly thought about floor-spacing, defensive versatility, and the possibility that James could delegate in this scenario. Why exactly is this relevant to the future of the Suns?Booker’s respect for those that came before him, his deep knowledge of the minutia of the game, and his overall analytical approach to roster-building make him an optimal voice in crafting personnel for the Suns moving forward alongside GM Brian Gregory and governor Mat Ishbia. There isn’t any evidence that points towards Booker playing a role in the Durant trade out of Phoenix, but it’s difficult to deny that Dillon Brooks is an incredibly strong fit alongside Booker. Brooks provides physical edge and relentless attacking that Kelly Oubre Jr. originally did before Phoenix’s resurgence, while role players such as Collin Gillespie are abbreviated versions of Booker’s favorite players of all time. Time will tell just how much influence Booker receives in shaping Phoenix’s future roster, but it’s a task to deny that the 11-year vet has an exceptional eye for talent and a drive to make the most of whatever is around him.
