DFB rejects letter enabling Infantino to run for third term as FIFA president

   ​The DFB (German Football Association) refused to sign a letter to put forth Gianni Infantino as a candidate for another term as FIFA president.DFB president Bernd Neuendorf has distanced himself from Infantino, especially after the Folarin Balogun red card affair, BILD reports.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementBalogun was due to be suspended for the USA’s last-16 clash with Belgium but his red card was overturned in a controversial hearing.Further outcry came when it was revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump had placed a call to Infantino, regarding the red card decision.Nevertheless, there are currently no doubts over Infantino’s re-election – the Italian looks destined for another four-year term in charge.Continental federations from Africa, Asia and South America have already pledged their support for him to be re-elected in March 2027.
