Dodgers minors: Ryan Ward, Logan Wagner, Luis Carias

The Dodgers had their outfielders Josue De Paula and Mike Sirota covering all seven innings in left field for the National League during Sunday’s MLB Futures Game in Philadelphia. De Paula started in left, playing the first four innings and collecting a single in his two at-bats. Sirota, who struck out in his lone plate appearance, still kept his on-base streak alive at 72 consecutive games, a run that will resume on Friday after today’s stoppage.
Meanwhile, Great Lakes infielders were contributing on offense as Logan Wagner, who played second base on Sunday, homered twice and drove in three runs. The Comets continued their strong hitting, with Ryan Ward homering and driving in three runs. Zach Ehrhard added three hits, including a double, and scored twice, while Jack Suwinski also posted three hits and a double. James Tibbs III collected three hits as well, fueling the offense in Sunday’s action.
Oklahoma City’s bullpen stood out in the Drillers’ defeat, with a lineup of nine relievers each delivering a scoreless inning. Springfield spoiled the Drillers’ late surge by pushing two runs across in the seventh. Wyatt Crowell had already delivered three scoreless frames in relief to reach the seventh, but a walk-heavy seventh inning, coupled with a two-run double, sealed the final margin for Springfield.
Christian Zazueta filled three innings with three strikeouts and allowed one run. Although his start was shortened, it marked his only four-days-rest appearance of the season, as he also started the Tuesday series opener.
In addition to Wagner’s contributions, Charles Davalan homered for the Loons in their win over the Dayton Dragons. Robby Porco and Justin Chambers combined for six strikeouts across 3 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, helping preserve the lead. Jaron Elkins and Easton Shelton each homered for the Tower Buzzers in their victory against the Inland Empire. Brady Smith worked seven strikeouts over his three-inning start, permitting one run, and Luis Carias followed with a strong eight-inning outing, allowing one run and tallying five strikeouts for the win.
Sunday’s slate featured Oklahoma City 8, El Paso 0; Springfield 3, Tulsa 1; Great Lakes 3, Dayton 1; Ontario 4, Inland Empire 2. In addition, Oklahoma City faced Tacoma (Mariners), Tulsa played Frisco (Rangers), Great Lakes met West Michigan (Tigers), and Ontario challenged Lake Elsinore (Padres).
With all four Dodgers affiliates on their All-Star break, games resume Friday night with shortened three-game series. From Monday through Thursday this week, minor league action is limited to the Arizona Complex League and the Dominican Summer League, providing a quiet stretch before the next wave of competitive action. This brief pause creates a reset for the farm system as it heads into the second half of the season, and it offers players a chance to fine-tune their approaches ahead of the crucial stretch run. The Dodgers organization will look to carry the momentum from these competitive performances into the second half, with several players continuing to push for higher levels and potential call-ups as the minor leagues ramp back up.
