It tilted painfully out of New England’s favor during the closing moments. The Patriots controlled the first half and carried a 7-0 lead into halftime. Sam Darnold was knocked out and Seattle’s offense struggled to generate momentum. Drew Lock, though, eventually sparked the Seahawks. AJ Brown’s ankle injury removed New England’s most explosive outside weapon. Maye finished 23-of-33 for 178 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. He added 47 rushing yards. His first half was efficient, but all three interceptions came on deep attempts. The final one arrived with 21 seconds remaining when he tried to force a touchdown pass rather than settle for a field-goal attempt that would have tied the game.Maye himself acknowledged that impatience cost the Patriots, which the numbers reinforce. He completed 20 of 23 passes thrown under 10 air yards for 134 yards and a touchdown. Maye also went just 3-of-8 on throws of 10 or more air yards for 44 yards and three interceptions.
