​I recall the moment I got into it with Poole. There was one person who stood out for me during the Jordan Poole incident, someone who was exceptionally outspoken about it and really bothered me: Udonis Haslem. I’ve seen Haslem himself get into it with younger players on other teams before, guys who were younger than him—like Jimmy Butler. Then he’d come out and say things like, “That’s ridiculous! You got into it with your young guy; I would never. I can’t believe you did that…” So when I first saw this situation, I thought, wow. Here are two young guys whom Haslem helped raise in a sense, two players he’s mentored and supported as they grew. If you helped shape this young guy in the light of the kind of arguments you were making about me, and now you watch him punch another young guy who’s part of the same circle you helped foster, are you going to maintain that same line of judgment? It struck me as ironic and revealing.
