San Francisco defeated Atlanta 3-2 on Sunday at Oracle Park, with the Giants taking the three-game series 2-1. Former Vol Drew Gilbert appeared as a pinch hitter for San Francisco in the series finale, replacing Jonah Cox in the seventh inning and singling to center on his only at-bat. Gilbert moved to third on Matt Chapman’s left-field double, then scored on a sacrifice fly to right by Luis Arraez.
The Giants’ next game is Monday against Arizona, with first pitch slated for 9:40 p.m. EDT at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. Gilbert played for Tennessee from 2020 to 2022, appearing in 141 games (134 starts) as a batter and 11 games as a relief pitcher, posting a 2-0 record. He hit .314 with 22 home runs, 140 RBIs and 116 runs for the Vols. The 2022 MLB draft selected him by Houston in the first round (No. 28 overall).
