   ​GREENSBORO, N.C. – In a tight late-Journey matchup, the Greensboro Grasshoppers were edged by the Greenville Drive with a 5-4 final score on Thursday, July 9. The loss dropped Greensboro to 12-6 in the second half, while Greenville moved to 7-11 in the same stretch. The Drive finished with more hits than Greensboro, 8-5, and the Grasshoppers committed two errors in the contest.
Offensively, Greensboro was paced by designated hitter Dylan Palmer, who went 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored. Teammates Sammy Stafura, Murf Gray, and Brian Sanchez each collected one hit for the Grasshoppers, contributing to a modest five-hit effort as a team.
For Greenville, infielder Yoeilin Cespedes led the way at the plate with a 1-for-3 line that included a double and a run scored. The Drive received additional offensive contributions from Justin Gonzalez, Luke Heyman, Gerardo Rodriguez, Isaiah Jackson, Yophery Rodriguez, Antonio Anderson, and Stanley Tucker, all recording hits to help build the scoring as the game progressed.
Greensboro starter Cameron Keshock took the mound and worked briefly, retiring five batters with two strikeouts before leaving the game due to an injury. Draven Zeigler was charged with the loss, dropping to 2-3 on the season.
Greenville started Joe Vogatsky, who went 3.1 innings and struck out six while allowing three hits and two earned runs. Calvin Bickerstaff earned the win to improve to 5-2 on the season, and Steven Brooks collected his sixth save.
Looking ahead, the Grasshoppers will try to rebound in the final game of the home series against the Greenville Drive on Friday, July 10, with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 PM. Fans can anticipate another competitive evening as Greensboro attempts to even the series before heading back on the road.
