Duke’s Cameron Boozer Earning Insane Praise During NBA Summer League

By admin — In News — July 15, 2026

As we watch the NBA Summer League, I try to tell myself not to get too far ahead of myself with some of my takes. As I’ve watched Cameron Boozer so far, I’ve actually loved everything I’ve seen from him, and it makes me think that the former Duke star deserved a lot more respect than he was given for whatever reason.I don’t want to say Boozer was disrespected, since he still went third overall, but I never felt he had a real chance of being the first pick.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementStill, that hasn’t stopped many in the media from suggesting that Boozer has been just as good as anyone in this entire draft, and I don’t think that’s an unfair take, considering what we’ve seen the young man do early in the Summer League.“Boozer already very much looks the part of an NBA player with the body and size that towered over his peers during his first action in Las Vegas. His skills, shooting and strength are already advantages that made it easy to see why he had, perhaps, the highest floor of any of the top prospects. And getting to play a few games at Salt Lake City summer league helped him prepare to be more comfortable in his first Vegas appearance.“He had success matching up directly against fellow top rookie Caleb Wilson on both ends of the floor in their Vegas debut Friday. He racked up 23 points, six rebounds and four assists in 27 minutes in the Grizzlies’ 97-96 win over the Bulls,” ESPN’s Jamal Collier wrote. To say that Boozer could have the highest floor of any prospect is not an uninteresting or bad take. In fact, I think Boozer proved in college that he really could be the best player at any given moment in this draft class. Frankly, he was the best player out of any of these guys in college basketball a season ago, so to see him play well in the NBA and even play better than these guys shouldn’t be too big of a surprise if it happens.
