(Photo by Cooper Neill/Zuffa LLC) Dustin Poirier is no longer associated with Bud Light.After starring in commercials and publicly representing the company during appearances, the former UFC interim lightweight champion revealed that Bud Light cut ties with him as soon as he was arrested on public drunkenness charges. There was already speculation that Bud Light was no longer in business with Poirier after he starred in a commercial alongside UFC announcer Bruce Buffer that was heavily edited to remove the Louisiana native when the advertisement was shown during recent broadcasts.Poirier says just after his arrest and release on bond, Bud Light already pulled the trigger to sever ties with him.“They terminated my contract immediately,” Poirier told Yahoo Sports.While Poirier admits that the lucrative deal cost him a lot of money, he wasn’t exactly upset that he’s no longer going to be representing the company, especially as he fights to stay sober in the aftermath of such an ugly arrest.“It’s all good. I don’t need that f*cking poison in my life,” Poirier said. “It sucks that my family loses out on the money I had left on the deal with them, which is a few hundred thousand dollars.“But also if I’m representing something, if I’m advertising something that I’m not going to be taking part in, promoting stuff — it’s just, it is what it is.”Since his arrest, Poirier has worked tirelessly to fix the issues that led to him drinking too much that day and getting kicked off a flight before he was ultimately detained by police for his continued bad behavior in the Atlanta airport.Poirier has profusely apologized for what unfolded that day, and he even praised the police officers who managed to defuse the situation despite a retired UFC athlete literally trying to fight them in the airport.That served as a massive wakeup call for Poirier, who has since stopped drinking all together and representing a company light Bud Light just sends the wrong message as he attempts to clean up his act.“There are plenty of people out there who do drink responsibly. I’m not one,” Poirier said. “So if you can drink responsibly, have fun, drink a Bud Light, drink whatever the hell you want. Be responsible, have a good time. I’m not that person.”
