After opening the season with a 2-0 record, Philadelphia has struggled to maintain its early momentum. Now, with star quarterback Jalen Hurts absent, the team has fallen to a low point not seen since Andy Reid’s early years in charge.According to ESPN Insights, the Eagles have now lost six consecutive games for the first time since 2012, when they endured an eight-game losing streak during Reid’s final season as head coach. Philadelphia’s 2-6 record marks its worst start at this stage of a season since 1999, Reid’s first year leading the franchise.Throughout the six-game losing streak, the Eagles have managed just 89 points, averaging 14.8 points per game, while giving up 160 points at an average of 26.7 per game. Even more concerning, Philadelphia hasn’t managed to score more than 21 points in any of those six defeats.
The Eagles have fallen to the bottom of the NFC East standings following their loss to the Commanders. Meanwhile, a text message from a league source has already hinted at potential changes within the organization.Watch sports LIVE with fuboTV (free trial)“This [Eagles] team is going to look very different come the bye,” the source said. “It’s a loss that loses people their job. They just got their a** kicked back to back weeks in primetime, there will be changes.”With Hurts unavailable, Tanner McKee stepped in to lead Philadelphia’s offense in his first career road start. However, the young quarterback struggled to handle Washington’s defensive pressure, completing 23 of 34 passes for 212 yards while throwing an interception and losing a fumble. He was also brought down for five sacks.Saquon Barkley managed to score Philadelphia’s only touchdown, but his contribution was not enough to generate the offensive spark the Eagles needed to secure their third win of the season. The Eagles will now have to find a way to stop their losing streak when they face the New York Giants next week.Related: Eagles RB Saquon Barkley doesn’t hold back on Philadelphia’s free fallRelated: Eagles’ Nick Sirianni puts himself on blast after Week 8 SNF debacle vs. Commanders
