PHILADELPHIA − The Eagles pretty much accomplished their goal of having just about everyone on the 53-man roster healthy for their season-opener against the Washington Commanders on Sept. 13.The only question is on the status of edge rusher Jonathan Greenard, who missed all of training camp due to a pectoral muscle strain, and rookie Eli Stowers, a tight end, who has a hamstring injury. Both were limited in the first two days of practice this week. The Eagles’ final injury report of the week is due later on Sept. 11.Buy Philadelphia Eagles ticketsGreenard, of course, was the Eagles’ big offseason acquisition, coming in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni wouldn’t say on Sept. 11 if Greenard would be ready to play against the Commanders. But considering that he has only practiced last week and this week, it would seem unlikely.”I get the information from the doctors and the people that are educated in that department,” Sirianni said. “And when they say he can go, he can go. Sometimes there are rep limitations, and sometimes there are not. And that’s how we go about it.”The Eagles, however, appear to be in better shape injury-wise than the Commanders, who are coming off a 5-12 season. Greenard and Stowers are the only players listed on the injury report this week. Washington had four players listed as limited this week. They are OLB K’Lavon Chaisson (knee), RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin), OLB Odape Oweh (calf) and DT Daron Payne (knee). But on Sept. 11, the Commanders listed Chaisson, Croskey-Merritt and Oweh as eligible to play. Payne was added to the injury report on Sept. 10, meaning that he likely suffered the injury during that day’s practice. His status is not yet known.Eagles add kick returner to practice squadThe Eagles are signing KR/WR Xavier Gipson to the practice squad and placing WR Danny Gray on practice squad IR. Gipson spent part of last season with the Eagles after coming over from the Jets. Contact Martin Frank at mfrank@delawareonline.com. Follow on X @Mfranknfl.
