​East Central University put up better numbers than Oklahoma Baptist in several categories Thursday night, but the Tigers couldn’t turn those advantages into a Great American Conference victory.The Bison slipped past ECU 3-1 inside the Kerr Activities Center, winning by scores of 25-23, 27-29, 25-17 and 25-21.The Tigers finished with more kills (55-49), assists (47-41) and digs (99-88), but Oklahoma Baptist came up with the big points when it mattered most.ECU dropped to 5-11 overall and 1-4 in GAC play, while OBU improved to 13-4 and 5-0 after recording its fourth straight win.The Tigers step outside conference action Tuesday when they travel to Tahlequah to battle Northeastern State University.Addison Iman led the ECU attack with 22 kills, while Jada Faulkner turned in a career performance with 11 kills and a .556 hitting percentage.Emily Pena collected a double-double with 38 assists and 20 digs, while Bryleigh Wallace also finished with 20 digs.Oklahoma Baptist grabbed the early advantage after surviving a late ECU charge in the opening set.The Tigers trailed 24-20 before fighting off three consecutive set points to pull within 24-23. The Bison finally put the set away with a kill on the next point for a 25-23 victory.ECU bounced back in the second set.With the score tight early, the Tigers used a 7-1 run to build a 17-11 cushion. Kills by Iman and Faulkner helped fuel the surge.Oklahoma Baptist eventually erased the deficit and moved in front 27-26, putting the Tigers on the brink of falling behind two sets to none.ECU had an answer.Back-to-back kills by Iman and Lana Wright helped the Tigers finish off a 29-27 victory and square the match at one set apiece.The Bison regained control in the third set. Oklahoma Baptist used a late surge to stretch its advantage to as many as eight points and held ECU to eight kills and its lowest hitting percentage of the match on the way to a 25-17 win.The Tigers tried to force a decisive fifth set and moved in front 10-8 in the fourth following a service ace by Gabriela Etter.Oklahoma Baptist responded with a 7-1 run to take a 15-11 advantage. ECU stayed within striking distance and eventually closed the gap to 23-21, but the Bison ended the match with a kill and a service ace.Reagan Hutchinson and Wright added seven kills apiece for ECU, with Hutchinson also collecting 15 digs. Etter served up a team-high four aces, while Faulkner added four blocks to her career-high kill total.Mackenzie Frazee led the Bison with 13 kills and added four blocks, while Rylee Unruh and Addison Dale each had nine kills.
