Credit: John Jones-Imagn ImagesWith LeBron James now officially a part of the Philadelphia 76ers, expect the team to get more coverage than ever from ESPN.And with James coming back to the east coast, ESPN is bringing not one but two of its writers to the City of Brotherly Love to cover him and the Sixers in pursuit of a championship.According to the Philadelphia Business Journal, Dave McMenamin and Kris Rhim will be on the Sixers beat for the worldwide leader in sports. McMenamin has been a longtime NBA reporter for the network and best-selling author. He has also covered James closely while on the Lakers beat for ESPN. Rhim is moving over from the Los Angeles Chargers beat. Hopefully Rhim has a better time with LeBron and the 76ers than he has had recently with Jim Harbaugh in LA.Rhim posted a tweet last week that he was making the move while McMenamin has been splitting time between covering the Lakers and Sixers so far this preseason.Sixers practice, complete with an in-house deejay https://t.co/k3WgCUUthF— Dave McMenamin (@mcten) September 29, 2026After three years covering the Chargers, today was my last day. Starting next week, I’ll be covering the Sixers for ESPN. Excited to move back to my hometown for what could be a transformative year for the franchise.— Kris Rhim (@krisrhim1) October 10, 2026Both Rhim and McMenamin are Philly natives so it will serve as something of a homecoming for the pair.ESPN has made a habit of dedicating coverage to whatever team LeBron James is playing for, going all the way back to the establishment of the Heat Index when he first joined Miami in 2010. That was also when ESPN first hired Brian Windhorst, who previously covered James with the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Akron Beacon Journal. The network has added beat reporters to every NFL team in recent years as well as select other pro sports franchises that are nationally relevant. And as we’ve all known for over two decades now, there’s no more relevant athlete in sports than LeBron. The post ESPN adds Dave McMenamin and Kris Rhim to Philadelphia 76ers beat appeared first on Awful Announcing.
