Former Los Angeles Rams offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth has been a staunch supporter of Aaron Donald’s return to the NFL. And while he doesn’t know for sure if his ex-teammate will rejoin the Rams in 2026 to play with Myles Garrett, the 44-year-old told the Bleav Network he would unretire if he were Donald to play on this team.”If I was his age,” Whitworth said, “there’s no question I’d be coming back.”The Super Bowl-champion tackle, who spent five seasons blocking alongside Donald in Los Angeles before retiring after the 2021 season, is nine years older than Donald.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhat’s driving Whitworth’s confidence isn’t sentiment — it’s the roster the Rams have built. He pointed to the additions of Garrett and a potential Donald return alongside a defense already featuring Kobie Turner, Byron Young and a retooled secondary led by Trent McDuffie-caliber corners.”They have guys for every style of game that you want to play,” Whitworth said. “I think that’s what’s really going to make them special is they can play any style of defense that they need to stop somebody.”Whitworth wasn’t above poking fun at his own hypothetical return, though. Asked when he might actually play again himself, he gave a more practical reason than chasing a ring:”I would come back with AD only if they have a position where I could be on the roster and just literally hold the water for him when he comes off the field because I do need to get another year in,” Whitworth said, “so that I can get my insurance.”AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThis article originally appeared on Rams Wire: Ex-Rams tackle says he’d unretire if he were Aaron Donald
