F1 US GP: Would a Special Livery Follow Red Bull’s Special Race Suits in Austin?

By admin — In News — October 17, 2026

Red Bull has always felt a bit extra at the Circuit of The Americas. This year, Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar will trade their familiar dark-blue race suits for special off-white suits in the 2026 Formula 1 United States Grand Prix. The suit seems inspired by Texas cowboys and the state’s iconic rangers. This is not the first time that Red Bull has brought one-off race suits to Austin. In 2018, Red Bull famously took the full cowboy direction. Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo dressed in cowboy-themed overalls that simulated leather chaps, denim jeans, an embroidered Western yoke, and a giant silver Red Bull belt buckle.Verstappen finished in second place in that race, just +1.281 seconds behind Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen. Then, in 2023, the team put on a fan-designed Texas flag livery. Red Bull ran the “Make-Your-Mark” fan-design competition, which allowed their supporters to create special liveries for the team’s three US races in Miami, Austin, and Las Vegas. Argentine graphic designer Franco Cavallone’s design was selected for the COTA livery. Verstappen would go on to win the 2023 US GP by more than 10 seconds over McLaren’s Lando Norris. Then Red Bull driver Sergio Perez settled for a decent P4 finish.Would Red Bull announce a special livery too?So far, Red Bull is one of the few teams on the grid that hasn’t run a one-off special livery in 2026. In all of the concluded races, the team has used their standard season livery that features a glossy heritage-inspired blue design, which marks their new Ford power unit era.So, Red Bull fans are hoping that the upcoming US Grand Prix could change that. Many fans are calling for a matching white livery to go with the drivers’ new cowboy-themed white suits. Interestingly, Red Bull has also used a special white livery in the past. Most recently, they ran the “White Bull” livery during the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix, as a tribute to their final season of partnership with Honda. The team also used a white livery during the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix, where Verstappen and Perez finished second and third. Performance is still of utmost importanceOf course, the car’s performance remains the focus of the team. But historical and present results should keep Red Bull’s hopes up.  Verstappen has won four of the last five races in Austin, including a commanding performance in 2025, where he converted pole position into a victory. Then, there’s the fact that the Dutchman is fresh off back-to-back victories in Malaysia and Singapore. Surely, Red Bull heads into Austin as the favorites, especially if they can fix Isack Hadjar’s car reliability issues. And if they give their fans a much-requested special livery, that’d be the icing on the top.
