Fabrizio Romano confirms it: Liverpool first-XI star on course to leaveFabrizio Romano has confirmed it. One first-XI Liverpool star is on course to leave the club and he’ll be impossible to replace.Liverpool said goodbye to three true stars this summer, just one year after saying goodbye to Trent Alexander-Arnold. But high-profile contracts just keep expiring.Mohamed Salah, admittedly, still had one year left on his deal but his wages were at such a level that Liverpool were willing to forgo the final campaign. Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate, though, both saw their contracts expire.Liverpool have quite controversially failed to replace any of them, though. No new left-back or right-winger came in. Ronald Araujo did come in at centre-back, though he’s now playing out on the right. For the next set of exits, however, Liverpool simply won’t have a choice. They must be replaced.Alisson Becker on course for exitAlisson Becker is one of those with an expiring contract. His deal was actually set to end in 2026, though Liverpool activated a clause that kept him around for another year. But that contract is certainly expiring – with no clause – in 2027. Liverpool either get Alisson to accept a new deal or he’s leaving the club after nearly a decade. And it seems like they’re not actually negotiating a new contract right now. Alisson is on course to leave the club unless something changes and that’s rarely a positive sign.“Alisson is a special situation because for Alisson, Juventus were very interested around April, May, then Liverpool decided to continue with him, also not to lose another leader after Mo Salah, Andy Robertson and all the others who left in the summer transfer window,” Fabrizio Romano told the Here We Go podcast.“So, Liverpool activated the option for an extra season, 2007. Now, if they want to continue together, a new contract is needed.“There is no option, no extra option in the contract, so let’s see what’s going to happen. At the moment, there are not active conversations between Alisson and Liverpool over a new deal.“Let’s see. I think there could be movements in the summer 2027.”We would be surprised at this stage if Liverpool turned around and got Alisson to renew. Though, there’s now been a change of sporting director, so who truly knows what the plan is?All we know for sure is that if Alisson does depart, Liverpool will be up against it to find a replacement. The Brazilian remains one of the very best in the world and finding an adequate goalkeeper to step into his boots will be unbelievably difficult.
