FC Barcelona has reportedly reached a “total agreement” to sign a premier young European talent in Jesse Bisiwu, according to SPORT and journalist Sacha Tavolieri, who cite anonymous sources. The report suggests that six months of negotiations between Barça and Club Brugge are nearing their conclusion. The proposed deal is said to total around $11.4 million (€10 million) with an additional 30 percent performance-based add-on for Brugge if Bisiwu is sold in the future.
Club Brugge found itself effectively cornered by the 18-year-old’s contract situation, which expires on June 30. With Bisiwu entering the final year of his contract, Brugge faces the dilemma of selling now to at least recoup a fee rather than risk losing the player for free next year. Barça’s approach mirrors a tactic they have used with Karim Adeyemi, who is similarly tied to a 2027 deadline and for whom Barcelona is nearing a deal worth around $25 million plus up to $8 million in variables.
Bisiwu appears likeliest to be confirmed first. The necessary paperwork is already in motion, and he is expected to travel to Barcelona next week to undergo medical checks and become a Blaugrana player. The plan is for him to initially join Juliano Belletti’s Barca Atletic in the development squad, while integrating with the first-team group during Hansi Flick’s preseason training camp. There is also the possibility that standout performers from the reserves or the U-18 Juvenil ranks could earn a place with the senior squad if they impress during pre-season.
Flick and Sporting Director Deco seem to be prioritizing wide players for the 2026/2027 campaign. Barça has already secured Anthony Gordon for around $80 million and is closing in on Adeyemi and Bisiwu, signaling a clear strategy to refresh the winger options on the squad. The potential departure of Raphinha could be part of this broader plan, particularly amid interest from Saudi clubs. The underlying aim appears to be boosting pace and directness on the flanks, a move that Barcelona believes aligns with the modern game where top teams rely on multiple wide options to support the forwards, including Lamine Yamal.
