Fiorentina welcome Atta and freeze out unhappy Gosens

Fiorentina are moving quickly in the transfer market as Arthur Atta underwent his medical today ahead of a €40 million transfer from Udinese, while Schalke 04 target Robin Gosens has been effectively frozen out and is standing firm against a move. The Viola have already begun their pre-season preparations at the Viola Park complex, and today new head coach Fabio Grosso held his presentation press conference to address the club’s plans for the upcoming campaign.
In Udine, the arrangement for Atta has been reported as a lightning-fast deal: the midfielder is set to join Fiorentina for around €25-30 million, with Udinese securing a 30 percent cut of any future sale fee. That structure implies a projected ultimate valuation for Atta of roughly €40 million. Within hours of the news, Atta was photographed arriving at Fiorentina’s training camp to undergo his medical tests, and he is expected to sign a four-year contract with annual wages around €1.3 million.
Meanwhile, in Florence, Gosens’s situation has taken a dramatic turn. Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia both report that the club has informed Gosens that he is not part of the current Fiorentina project, effectively excluding him from pre-season activities. The move appears aimed at pressuring a transfer and removing his wages from the books before his contract expires in June 2028. Reports from Bild have even suggested that Gosens could be sold for as little as €1 million as part of this strategy.
Schalke 04 have shown interest in Gosens, but Sky Sport Italia cautions that securing his agreement to a move may be challenging, given the sense of betrayal he feels from the Fiorentina camp. This situation has deeper roots, as Gosens had previously been on the brink of a January move to Nottingham Forest but chose to pull back, complicating any potential deal and leaving his future status somewhat unsettled.
The overarching narrative centers on Fiorentina’s aggressive approach to reshaping their squad under Grosso, balancing mark: Atta’s arrival as a potential game-changer in midfield with the uneasy stalemate surrounding Gosens. The club remains determined to streamline its wage bill and align its roster with the new managerial direction, even as potential suitors prepare to bid. As the pre-season path unfolds, Fiorentina fans will be watching how Atta’s medical clearance translates into on-field contributions and whether Gosens’s stalling stance can be resolved through negotiations or whether a cut-price exit becomes the inevitable outcome.
