Notre Dame will kick off the 2026 season with a fresh, modern look as the program unveils the uniforms for the 13th edition of the Shamrock Series. The Fighting Irish are set to debut these new designs in their season-opening clash against Wisconsin, a game that will be played at Lambeau Field, and they will aim to extend their undefeated Shamrock Series record, standing at 12-0 in games to date.
The uniform design draws its inspiration from Notre Dame’s storied past. Deep blue tones pay homage to the 1920s era of the Acme Packers, while the striping details echo the distinctive styles of today’s Green Bay Packers uniforms. On the back collar, eleven shamrocks line up to symbolize Notre Dame’s 11 consensus national championships, underscoring the program’s enduring tradition of success. The numbers on the jersey are inspired by the Paul Hornung era, honoring the Heisman Trophy winner who became a Packers icon and a member of Green Bay’s first Super Bowl-winning squad in 1967. An American flag patch sits just above the heart to commemorate the nation’s 250th anniversary, a nod to the broader cultural significance of the moment. In addition, players will don custom cleats designed specifically for this matchup, adding a personalized touch to the uniform ensemble.
This marks the first Shamrock Series game since 2024. Since the series began in 2009, it has been staged 12 times, with breaks in 2017-2019, 2021, and 2023. The Shamrock Series is designed to present Notre Dame as the host team in a neutral-site context, with previous editions staged at notable venues such as the Alamodome, Yankee Stadium, Soldier Field, and Fenway Park. This season’s neutral-site showcase will be the series’ first game at Lambeau Field, a landmark moment in the series’ history. Lambeau Field itself carries a connection to Notre Dame through Curly Lambeau, who founded the Green Bay Packers in 1919 and was a former Notre Dame player.
In the all-time series, Notre Dame holds an advantage over Wisconsin, 9-2-6. The teams’ most recent meeting occurred in 2021, when the Irish defeated the Badgers 41-13 at Soldier Field in the 10th Shamrock Series matchup. The 2026 Shamrock Series game between Notre Dame and Wisconsin is scheduled to kickoff on Sunday, September 6, at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time, with television coverage on NBC and streaming availability via Peacock. This season-opening matchup promises a compelling blend of tradition and innovation, as Notre Dame unveils its new look and pursues another high-profile win on a storied stage.
