​Sep. 1—GRANITE FALLS — There is a new head coach in town.Dylan Lindstrom takes over the Yellow Medicine East football team this season.Gregg Blanchette served as the Sting’s head coach for one season. Before his time in Granite Falls, he was on the coaching staff at Bishop McNamara High School in Kankakee, Illinois.Lindstrom, who has coached for four seasons, will be at the helm for the first time. He has Jesse Nelson, Logan DeBlieck, Josh Guertin and Jake Suter on his coaching staff this season.They look to build on last year, when YME recorded an 0-6 record throughout Mid South-White District play before finishing with a 1-8 overall.Cooper McCosh, who was the Sting’s starting quarterback a season ago, has graduated. His replacement is junior Liam Anderson, who stands at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds.Anderson will be surrounded by four upperclassmen, who are seeking impactful roles.Jack Mensink, a 6-2, 230-pound senior, and Caysen Lien, a 5-10, 185-pound junior, will lead the production out of the backfield. Both players also serve as linebackers on defense, as is 6-0, 215-pound junior Lane Wohlman.It is looking like Anderson’s top two targets will be Dane Hildahl, a 5-11, 185-pound senior, and Kolten Blankenhagen, a 6-1, 170-pound junior. Each also plays defensive back.Anderson will be protected by 5-11, 200-pound junior center Connor Bennett, offensive tackles in 6-2, 245-pound senior Owen Slettedahl and 6-5, 295-pound junior Breck Martin and 5-10, 200-pound senior left guard Easton Jaenisch.
