Leaves are falling, the colors are changing and love is in the air.… Love is in the air?The college football community is no stranger to the infamous two-word event that creeps up on you like a defensive end on your blind side.“Fall Wedding”.A phrase that feels like the equivalent of saying the name “Voldemort” at Hogwarts may sideline many fans this season, and in terms of the Mountain West and PAC-12, here are the weekends and slates you will want to trade in that love in the air for spiraling pigskins.Start writing up some excuses now, folks.Week 1 (Sept. 4-6)Besides wanting to be present for the true opening day of the college football season, there are some pretty tasty matchups on the docket for the first weekend in September.And no, this is not a weekend where you can get away with a Friday or Sunday event to save your Saturday.After your work week comes to a close, Friday night will get you started with Fresno State taking on USC in the Coliseum, a West Coast appetizer for the weekend to come.On Saturday afternoon, you will get to indulge in some fun non-conference matchups, like Oregon State at Houston and Boise State at Oregon.Think the PAC is doing all the heavy lifting? In the Saturday nightcap, the Mountain West will supply what is currently my game of the week: UNLV visiting Hawaii.The cherry on top comes on Sunday, as Washington State and Washington face off in the 118th Apple Cup.(If all of these end up as blowouts, don’t rat me out to the wedding planner)Week 4 (Sept. 26)While this late September Saturday doesn’t supply a three-course menu, you can find an enjoyable doubleheader on the card.Some rivalry action will open up the afternoon as New Mexico travels to Las Cruces to take on the Aggies, followed by the Arizona Wildcats traveling to Pullman to take on Washington State in the evening for an old PAC clash. That game will be on CBS.Elsewhere on the calendar is Boise State at Western Michigan, Hawaii at Wyoming and San Diego State at Toledo. Times are TBD.Week 7 (Oct. 17)Forget apple picking on this Saturday afternoon, as three games stand out to make a proper triple feature.Former PAC-2 buddies in Washington State and Oregon State will face off in the middle of the afternoon, followed by what could be a big-time matchup with Fresno State visiting San Diego State that night.The third? New Mexico traveling to Hawaii, which, just like the Bulldogs and Aztecs, could also have major conference implications. That game still waits for a kickoff time, with the chance to fit perfectly into this PAC-heavy slate.Week 11 (Nov. 14)This week is for the night owls!Perhaps attend the ceremony but skip the reception for when UNLV visits New Mexico and North Dakota State visits Hawaii, with a classic late-night kick on the island.You can also find Utah State at San Diego State and Colorado State at Washington State on your television guide.
