Former Farragut baseball pitcher Jett Johnston of Auburn was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 13th round of the 2026 MLB Draft on July 12.Johnston won two TSSAA state championships with the Admirals in 2022 and 2023 before beginning his college career at Texas A&M. He toggled between the field and the mound in one season with the Aggies before transferring to Auburn, where he became a full-time pitcher.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementJohnston made 15 relief appearances in 2026 and was 0-1 with a 5.25 ERA and struck out 31 in 24 innings. In 2025, he was 4-0 with a save with a 4.76 ERA in 11 innings.He has not yet indicated whether he’ll return to Auburn for his senior season or sign with the Tigers.Former Webb pitcher Mason Patel, who went undrafted, signed a contract with the Athletics on July 14.Patel, 24, spent six seasons in college.
