Former Metz player Arthur Atta set to join Fiorentina in a €30m deal

Arthur Atta, the 23-year-old midfielder from Udinese, is reportedly poised to join Fiorentina, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. This marks a significant signing for La Viola, who are expected to invest around €30 million (excluding bonuses) and also agree to share a portion of any future transfer fee to secure the Rennes-born talent.
Atta developed in the youth systems of Stade Rennais and FC Metz before turning pro with Rennes’ neighbor, the French club Strasbourg, where he made his Ligue 2 debut in 2022. After a loan spell, he moved permanently to Udinese for €8 million last summer and quickly adapted to Serie A, catching the eyes of observers with his performances.
During his first season in Italy, Atta was initially viewed as a squad option rather than a guaranteed starter, yet he still accumulated 29 appearances for the Bianconeri. He used the 2024-25 campaign to establish himself as a regular in Udinese’s midfield, starting 31 of his 34 league games. Across all competitions, he contributed six goals and four assists, highlighting his growing influence in the team.
The Rennes-born midfielder has also represented France at the youth level, earning caps for the French Under-20s, which underscored his potential on the international stage. If the Fiorentina deal goes through, Atta would join a club aiming to retool its squad with young, dynamic players who can contribute both creatively and defensively in midfield.
As the transfer discussions unfold, Fiorentina are contemplating a strategic arrangement that would see them invest in Atta while also agreeing to a share of any future sale value, a move that reflects their broader transfer approach under their current sporting project. For Udinese, the potential departure of a homegrown talent who has matured into a dependable midfielder represents both a financial opportunity and the chance to recalibrate their midfield options for the coming seasons.
In summary, Arthur Atta’s trajectory has moved from Rennes’ academy pathways through Metz and Strasbourg to Udinese, where he demonstrated his capability in Serie A before being linked with a potential switch to Fiorentina. If completed, the transfer would signify a notable shift for La Viola as they bolster their engine room with a young, versatile midfielder who has begun to leave a mark in Italian football.
