​Las Vegas may not have a sure starting left outside cornerback, but the competition for the job has been fierce. And it’s adding contenders.Early in camp, the Raiders were getting some nice contributions from rookies Jermod McCoy and Hezekiah Masses. The two were pushing 2025 part-time starter Darien Porter for the job. But seemingly out of nowhere, another contender entered the fray.It’s former 4th round pick Decamerion Richardson. After starting seven games as a rookie, Richardson was left for dead as the previous new staff drafted Porter and the duties were split between him and former Raiders CB Kyu Blu Kelly. Leaving Richardson seeing zero defensive snaps each week, seemingly barely clinging to a roster spot.This camp, however, he has looked better than he has ever looked. The 6-2, 192-pounder has routinely been in tight coverage and knocking down passes. And it has his reps with the first team increasing.Now the Raiders are looking at a four-man race for starting duties on the left side, opposite Eric Stokes. And that’s to say nothing of nickel corner Taron Johnson and second-year slot cornerback Greddy Vance who had a pick six in on Fernando Mendoza just the other day.There is a lot of camp left as well as preseason to think about. And having quantity in the cornerback competition doesn’t necessarily mean quality. But it increases the odds considerably that one of these guys will be the answer. Not to mention if there is an injury to a starter, there isn’t as much dropoff to the next guy.This competition was already the most heated of camp for the Raiders.
