The New Jersey Lacrosse Hall of Fame recently named its newest inductee class, and two men with deep ties to Rutgers will be inducted on July 21. Those two are former Rutgers coach Bob Demarco and alumnus Jules Heninburg.Demarco served a 19-year-long stint as the assistant head coach for Rutgers men’s Lacrosse under then-head coach Tom Hayes. In addition to his longstanding role at Rutgers, Demarco has served in other prominent roles across the Lacrosse world. Demarco recently served as the World Lacrosse president and has served on the World Lacrosse board since 2017. He has also been serving on the Nominations Committee since 2021.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementJules Heningburg was a two-time All-American and two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection, with the Tewaaraton Award Semifinalist finishing second all-time at Rutgers in points. Heningburg scored 117 goals, which is the seventh most for an RU player in the program’s history, and had 90 assists, which is the eighth most for an RU player in the program’s history. He, in total, finished his college career with 207 points overall. A four-time All-Star at the pro level, he recently announced his retirement from professional lacrosse; however, he hasn’t stepped away from the game entirely and will be a broadcaster for the sport.The Maplewood, N.J. native and Seton Hall Prep graduate had over 140 points in his pro career after being a First Round Draft Pick originally in Major League Lacrosse.With these two set to be inducted later in the month, Rutgers will have 14 representatives in the New Jersey Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
