Former WVU Tech Soccer sensation scores game winner for WVU Mountaineers

   ​BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) – From leading WVU Tech to an NAIA National Championship appearance to scoring game winners for WVU Men’s Soccer – Forward Julen Recalde is making a name for himself.Former Golden Bear star Recalde transferred from one of the top NAIA soccer schools in Beckley to Morgantown to play his sophomore season. Needless to say, his talent certainly translates.
Dolly Parton’s impact on education in West Virginia The Spanish native became the first Mountaineer to find the back of the net in 2026-27 during their second game against Saint Bonaventure. He led the attack for WVU with 5 shots and 2 of them on target. Even before the Mountaineers took the field for the first time this season, Head Coach Dan Stratford understood Recalde’s potential.“Julen Recalde will probably be competition in that left wing position. Julen coming from West Virginia Tech and scoring 16 goals in a team that made it to the NAIA National Championship game,” said Coach Stratford before their first game.Recalde has put in back-to-back shifts of 60 minutes or more in his 2 outings so far – both of which were starts.
