Four former Savannah football players give back with football camp

   ​Four Savannah football players who made names for themselves in their prep careers in the Hostess City are back together as teammates at the University of South Florida ― and the group will be giving back to their hometown community this weekend at a football camp.Former Benedictine star Za’Quan Bryan will host his fourth annual camp on Saturday, July 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. He will be joined by USF teammates Luke Kromenhoek, Kenny Odom and Terry Simmons as hosts of the camp.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementBryan has transferred from the University of Minnesota to USF, where the redshirt junior is listed as the starter at left cornerback on the team’s depth chart.Joining him on the USF roster this season is his former BC teammate, Kromenhoek, who started his college career at Florida State before playing at Mississippi State last season. The redshirt sophomore is expected to compete for the starting quarterback role at USF.Former Savannah Country Day standout Odom has also found his way to Tampa to join the Bulls. The speedy receiver started his college career at Austin Peay, before transferring to UTEP, where he had 108 catches for 1,323 yards and 14 touchdowns over the last two seasons.Simmons is a talented defensive lineman who established himself as one of the best in Georgia during his prep career at Calvary Day. He signed out of high school with Duke and is making the move to USF this season. He was named the All-Greater Savannah Overall Football Player of the Year as he starred as a receiver/defensive back for the Cadets, earning a scholarship to play at Minnesota.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe players will teach campers the fundamentals of the game for different positions and also talk about what it takes to reach the next level.Cost of the camp is $20 with a camp T-shirt and $15 without a shirt.
