The Washington Huskies watched one of their top remaining uncommitted offensive line targets elect to sign with another program this past Saturday night, as four-star tackle Lincoln Mageo announced his commitment to the Michigan Wolverines. Mageo, a 6-foot-4, 280-pound standout from Oceanside High School in Southern California, is ranked as the No. 369 overall prospect and No. 16 interior offensive lineman in the 2027 class according to the 247Sports Composite. He chose head coach Jim Harbaugh and Michigan, narrowing his choices to a final three that also included Utah.
Washington was the only finalist not to host Mageo for an official visit. He visited Utah on May 29 and then traveled to Michigan on June 5. A planned return trip to Seattle for an official visit on June 19 did not come to fruition, despite Mageo having taken an unofficial visit during Junior Day in early March. Shortly after his trip to Ann Arbor, multiple predictions surfaced suggesting Mageo would select Michigan, a development that may have influenced his decision not to make the scheduled trip back to Seattle.
In the meantime, the Huskies did host four other offensive linemen during that window: four-star prospects Gecova Doyal, Reis Russell, and DaJohn Yarborough, along with three-star Tye Kennedy. Yarborough ultimately announced his commitment to California on Saturday, leaving Washington still seeking to bolster its interior and tackle depth on the line.
Huskies Wire’s evaluation highlighted Mageo’s functional footwork and technique for his size. “He moves well for his 280-pound frame and consistently executes combo blocks and makes contact with second-level defenders from either spot,” wrote Alex Katson. “Down the field, Mageo continues to look for work, often sealing off defenders, then turning to remove another player from the play rather than staying latched to his man longer than necessary.” That kind of versatility and aggression has drawn attention to Mageo as a fly-in option for programs seeking physical, inside-protective linemen who can anchor inside and help pave running lanes.
With Mageo off the board, Washington may continue evaluating a few late offers in hopes of adding another body to the offensive line class. The Huskies could explore the possibility of extending late opportunities to a prospective lineman who can contribute immediately or develop into a core piece for the program’s blocking schemes in the coming years. The evolving landscape at the position leaves Washington poised to weigh its best combinations of size, athleticism, and scheme fit as they look to further fortify the trenches for their future campaigns.
