FSU safety target ‘has an idea’ about which school he’ll commit to

By admin — In News — July 10, 2026

Florida State has already locked in three-star safety Jemari Foreman, effectively closing the book on his recruitment. Yet the Seminoles still need another versatile defensive back on the board, and four-star Ta’Shawn Poole has emerged as the top prize they’re chasing. Poole’s decision is set for July 17, when he will choose among the Tennessee Volunteers, Georgia Bulldogs, and Florida State. In recent months, each program has enjoyed moments of momentum, but Florida State and Georgia have been the central figures in the latest stretch.
As Poole approaches his decision, he’s not far from finalizing his choice. “I have an idea about which school, but I’m still thinking about it,” Poole told Rivals. “I’m not 100% sure of the school yet, but I am getting really close.” Poole has stressed that the staff he feels most comfortable with will be the determining factor in where he ultimately lands. He also hinted last month that he could see himself serving as a leader at Florida State, underscoring the level of comfort he already associates with performing in Tallahassee.
Poole’s on-field profile extends beyond his safety play. He logged more than 650 yards of offense and found the end zone 11 times as a junior, highlighting his athletic versatility. Although his primary position is defense, his experience as a former wide receiver gives him a broader understanding of offensive dynamics and helps sharpen his instincts as a defender. That dual-threat background commonly translates into playmaking ability and a deeper sense of route concepts, which can be a significant asset in the secondary.
Much like Foreman, who intercepted 10 passes during his junior season, Florida State is keen to add Poole’s multifaceted skill set to the roster. Securing Poole would represent a major recruiting victory and would mark the first commitment in the 2027 cycle for the Seminoles to crack the top 100 nationally. Poole’s decision would shape FSU’s defensive backfield for years to come and could set the tone for the program’s overall recruiting momentum in the cycle.
