Galatasaray preparing offer for Como winger Diao, also of interest to Roma

Reports emerging from Italy indicate that both Roma and Galatasaray have shown interest in signing Assane Diao from Como this summer, with the Turkish club reportedly preparing a concrete offer for the Senegalese winger according to the latest updates. Matteo Moretto, speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel, disclosed that Galatasaray have been in touch with Como and are “intending” to submit a formal bid for the 20-year-old. This development could translate into a paid loan arrangement with an option or obligation to buy at a later date, depending on agreements between the clubs.
Earlier this week, speculation also linked Roma with a potential move for Diao, especially after news that their primary attacking target Mason Greenwood is set to move to Fenerbahce instead. Italian outlet TMW reported that Como would likely require a transfer fee in the region of €25 million to €30 million to consider parting with the youngster, underscoring the club’s valuation of the rising talent.
Diao joined Como from Real Betis in January 2025, with Como paying €12 million to secure his services. The forward made a strong early impression in Serie A, scoring eight goals in his first 15 appearances for the club and signaling significant potential at the top level. However, a string of injuries from the latter stages of his first season limited his 2025-26 campaign to 17 league appearances and just two goals.
As the summer transfer window approaches, interest from Roma and Galatasaray could intensify the negotiations surrounding Diao’s future. For Como, the decision will hinge on weighing the player’s current development and long-term value against offers that reflect his market potential and the club’s strategic plans. For Diao, the evolving scenario presents a path toward greater exposure and a new challenge in one of Europe’s competitive leagues, contingent on the terms proposed by prospective suitors.
With Galatasaray reportedly preparing to formalize an offer and Roma exploring alternatives, Diao’s next steps remain uncertain. Coaches, agents, and stakeholders will be watching closely to see whether a loan with an option to buy, or a direct purchase, emerges as the preferred route for both clubs and the player. As always in modern football transfers, negotiations will likely hinge on timing, financial feasibility, and the player’s willingness to pursue a different league environment this summer.
