Game Discussion: Milwaukee Brewers (57-34) @ St. Louis Cardinals (48-42)

By admin — In News — July 9, 2026

The Milwaukee Brewers are looking to notch their fourth win in five games against the St. Louis Cardinals as the series heads into Thursday night. After a tough performance last night, when Kyle Harrison toed the mound for Milwaukee and the offense could muster only one run, the fewest they’ve managed since June 3 against the San Francisco Giants, the Brewers will be reinforced by a welcomed return to their pitching staff. Logan Henderson will take the hill for the series finale, returning to action for the first time since May 22 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, a game in which he held the Dodgers to zero earned runs on two hits while issuing three walks. To make room for Henderson, right-hander Garrett Stallings was optioned down to Triple-A Nashville.
As Milwaukee tries to close out the series with authority, the Cardinals will attempt to salvage the finale. Andre Pallante will get the ball for St. Louis, continuing his impressive streak of 18 consecutive starts. Through 17 appearances this season, Pallante owns a 3.60 ERA with a 10-5 record. In his 22 prior outings against the Brewers, Pallante has logged a lengthy relationship with Milwaukee, and his most recent clash with the club came in May, when he allowed five runs on eight hits.
The Brewers’ offense has been a rollercoaster this season, delivering bursts of offense but struggling to sustain it consistently. Pallante, however, has yielded mixed results to Milwaukee depending on the day, and the current Milwaukee lineup has more than enough experience against him to pose a challenge. Only two Brewers rookies, Luis Lara and Cooper Pratt, have yet to face Pallante; beyond those two, the majority of the lineup has posted a batting average well over .300 against the right-hander, providing Milwaukee with confidence that they can solve him in this matchup.
Tonight’s first pitch is set for 6:45 p.m., and fans can catch the game on BrewersTV and WTMJ 620. The matchup promises a competitive late-season showdown as Milwaukee aims to maintain momentum in the division race and secure another win in what has been a productive stretch for the club.
