The University of Georgia has extended the contracts of both offensive coordinator Mike Bobo and defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann beyond the 2025 season, ensuring continued leadership on the sidelines for the Bulldogs. The extensions, announced this offseason, secure Bobo and Schumann through 2028, providing Georgia with stability at the coordinator positions as the program moves forward. Bobo’s compensation plan for the coming years places him at $2.2 million for the current season, with $2.3 million in 2027 and $2.4 million in 2028. His contract was previously scheduled to expire in June 2027.
Bobo’s recognition as a finalist for the Broyles Award underscored his status as the nation’s top offensive coordinator finalist, even though Indiana defensive coordinator Bryant Haines ultimately earned the honor after Indiana captured a national title. Bobo stood out as the sole offensive coordinator finalist, underscoring his standing among the elite play-callers in college football. A former Georgia quarterback himself, Bobo has been in the Bulldogs’ offensive coordinator role since 2023, taking over after Todd Monken departed for the Baltimore Ravens. Monken has since become the head coach of the Cleveland Browns.
On the defensive side, Glenn Schumann has been a key figure on Kirby Smart’s staff since the beginning of Smart’s tenure in 2016, initially serving as inside linebackers coach. He became Georgia’s co-defensive coordinator in 2019 and was promoted to the sole defensive coordinator role for the 2024 season. Schumann has established himself as an outstanding recruiter, keeping Georgia’s linebacker unit deep and talented throughout his tenure. With Schumann in charge of the defense and Bobo guiding the offense, the Bulldogs appear well-equipped at both coordinator positions, even as some fans remain skeptical about Bobo’s leadership.
