The Georgia Bulldogs are viewed as one of the nation’s top programs and aim to win a third straight SEC title in 2026. CBS Sports analyst Brad Crawford projects an 11-1 record for Georgia, with an 8-1 mark in conference play. The 2026 season will feature nine conference games in the regular season for the first time in the SEC. Crawford envisions a surprising setback for Georgia at South Carolina, describing the Gamecocks as an unpredictable squad. While South Carolina has talent and will host Georgia, an upset would be unexpected, especially after the Gamecocks went 4-8 in 2025 with only two wins against Power Five opponents. Georgia last dropped a game to South Carolina in 2019. The Gamecocks are positioned to make some noise in the SEC, and Crawford believes they will, predicting a 7-5 overall record with a 4-5 conference mark and a Texas Bowl appearance. He also anticipates notable wins for South Carolina over Tennessee, Clemson, and Georgia. A loss to South Carolina would not derail Georgia, but it would be startling to see the Bulldogs begin 10-0 before falling to the Gamecocks. Crawford still has Georgia advancing to face Texas in the SEC title game. He expects Georgia to rack up impressive victories over Ole Miss, Alabama, and Oklahoma, moves that would bolster their College Football Playoff and SEC championship positioning. Regarding the playoff, Crawford has Texas quarterback Arch Manning leading the Longhorns to a win over Georgia in the SEC championship, earning a top-two seed and a bye. Georgia is projected to be the No. 5 seed in the playoff, which would likely place them against the top Group of Five conference champion. The schedule, in Crawford’s view, should position the Bulldogs to return to both the SEC championship and the playoff, though participating in the conference title game may not always be the best setup for a deep playoff run, as illustrated by 2025.
