   Get to know Nathaniel Brown
Servus, Nene! Nathaniel Brown—known as Nene—will wear the FC Bayern jersey starting next season. The lightning-fast wing-back has swapped Eintracht Frankfurt for the German record champions. Here’s a profile of our new signing.
After Germany’s opening World Cup match against Curaçao (7-1), Brown couldn’t stop grinning. “It’s just incredible. My first World Cup match and I score a goal and assist right away—couldn’t have happened any better,” said the wing-back. Just over six months after his debut for the national team, the 23-year-old found himself on the world stage, catching the eye of German football fans.
Even though Germany’s World Cup run in North America ended earlier than hoped with a Round of 32 exit, the young defender’s performances will be remembered fondly. With his bursts of pace and dangerous set pieces, Brown stood out as one of the bright spots in the squad. From Bundesliga rising star to World Cup starter, his trajectory has taken a new turn at club level with a move to FC Bayern, where he’s poised to become a central pillar of the national team as it rebuilds after the summer.
“My first World Cup was a very special experience—for both the highs and the lows. Representing Germany at a tournament like this is a tremendous honor. It hurts that we’ve fallen short for many fans, and I’m sorry for that. I will do everything I can to help Germany make the nation proud again,” Brown wrote on X.
Brown has been a Bundesliga player since summer 2024, scoring seven goals and providing 10 assists in 59 Bundesliga appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt. His record—worthy of a forward in many respects—reflects his versatility: he can operate at left-back, occasionally right-back, and frequently in an attacking winger role. “He has fantastic qualities. Good players can be deployed anywhere, and he’ll play an important role for us in any position,” said Albert Riera, Frankfurt’s former coach, praising him.
In what was a somewhat mixed season for Eintracht, Brown stood out as a breath of fresh air and a key presence. He scored four goals and provided four assists in 33 Bundesliga appearances, plus two assists in Eintracht’s first Champions League campaign, where he featured in all eight matches. It’s no wonder he was named Eintracht’s Player of the Season by the fans, taking 51 percent of the vote.
Brown is technically gifted and tactically sharp, but what truly sets him apart is his exceptional pace. “My speed is my strength. I want to push forward and think like an attacker,” he says, embodying the dynamic profile Bayern fans can expect.
