​It’s time to begin gearing up for the 2026 Syracuse Orange football season. We’re taking a thorough look through the roster, profiling each Syracuse player as we get to know a number of new faces entering Year 3 of the Fran Brown Era. Up next in our series is Daunte Bacheyie.

2025 stats: Bacheyie appeared in 10 games during his true freshman season at Syracuse, primarily contributing on special teams. He also logged limited offensive action, recording five receptions for 42 yards across the season. His role was mostly as a contributor on special teams, but there were moments when he flashed potential on offense.
2026 projections: With the graduation of Dan Villari, Syracuse has created a competitive landscape for the starting tight end job. Bacheyie earned enough trust to see significant special-teams time last year and also earned chances on offense. If he can translate offseason development into tangible improvement on the offensive side, he could contend for the starting role. If not, he should remain a valuable stalwart on Orange special teams and continue to contribute in sub-packages and rotational sets.
How’d he get here?: Bacheyie drew scholarship offers from several programs, including Boston College, Buffalo, Fordham, and Pittsburgh, before ultimately choosing Syracuse.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Recruits’ evaluators widely pegged Bacheyie as a three-star prospect. Among the services, 247Sports rated him as the No. 2 player in the state of New York.

Interesting nugget o’ interest: Bacheyie was one of three Clifford-Bridge teammates from Christian Brothers Academy who joined the Orange in the 2025 recruiting class. Wide receiver Darien Williams and offensive lineman Matthew Hawn also made the move to Syracuse alongside him.
