The New Mexico Goatheads added to their blue line on Tuesday.The Colorado Avalanche’s ECHL affiliate announced the signing of defenseman Trevor Zins for its inaugural season, which begins Oct. 16 at the Rio Rancho Events Center.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementZins is the second player the Goatheads have signed. The first-year franchise announced the addition of forward Grant Ahcan on Friday. Zins was a teammate of Ahcan’s older brother, Jack, during the 2019-20 season at St. Cloud State in Minnesota.Zins spent two seasons at St. Cloud State — including as a member of the program’s national runner-up team in 2021 — but did not appear in any games, before finishing his college career at St. Thomas (Minnesota).This will be the 27-year-old’s fourth professional season after stops with the Indy Fuel, Idaho Steelheads and Greensboro Gargoyles. He spent time with all three teams last season, recording two goals and 15 assists in 65 regular-season games.Overall, Zins has appeared in 215 ECHL games between the regular season and playoffs.
