He’s undefeated (3-0) in 2026, coming through as the underdog more than once while scoring his trio of stoppage victories. At 40 years of age, he’s once again knocking on the door of a Lightweight ranking, which is remarkably impressive when you consider the 1-3 run around 2024 that seemed to imply his time as a relevant contender was coming to an end. Ribovics is a tall task, however. “El Gringo” is now eight fights deep into his UFC career and coming into his own. Even at 40 years old, he’s remarkably hard to hit cleanly despite (because of) his hands-down style. Meanwhile, Green excels at popping his opponents with jabs and leading them onto heavy counters, and he’s still an excellent wrestler when the situation calls.I do believe this fight is such an occasion. Green would be well-advised to wrestle for several reasons. First and foremost, takedowns are responsible for two of Ribovics’ three UFC losses. Secondly, the Argentinian relies heavily on his kicking ability. Catching kicks and converting them into takedowns is a great way to limit the kicking game, convincing Ribovics into the kind of boxing match that favors King Green.I’d really like to see Green work on eliminating the kicks of Ribovics as much as possible. Takedowns are one path, but Green also does good work with that side-on stomp kick as a way to interrupt kicking movement. Finally, Green should be looking to step up the middle with hard crosses, as catching Ribovics clean on one foot is likely to do real damage.
