Despite Arnold facing four counts of kidnapping and four counts of armed robbery, which carry a potential sentence of life in prison, the Seattle Seahawks recently reached an agreement with the 2024 first-round pick. Arnold hasn’t officially signed, with the legal process and logistics holding up the situation. And he’ll be placed on the NFL commissioner’s exempt list when he does sign.Hard Knocks has given HBO viewers an up-close look at the Seahawks’ efforts to add Arnold to the roster during training camp, and Tuesday night’s episode produced particularly interesting behind-the-scenes access into the mind of Seattle general manager John Schneider.In the episode, Hard Knocks cameras caught Schneider admitting that, like the Lions, the Seahawks “probably” would have cut Arnold if the cornerback had been on the Seattle roster when he was arrested.Schneider also admitted the allegations were “shocking” and referenced a July article from The Athletic that made it clear the situation is “not good.”Seahawks special teams coordinator Jay Harbaugh asked Schneider, “If you’re [the Lions], why would you release him?”“Oh, it was because it was very shocking,” Schneider explained. “Like, if you read The Athletic article, it’s not good.”“You would imagine if it was flipped, it would probably be the same thing here?” Harbaugh asked.“I think we probably would have had to let him go,” Schneider said.“It’s just the nature of, like, when you’re the team, it’s different than the second-chance team, right?” Harbaugh responded.“Yeah,” Schneider agreed, before explaining that he’s gotten “character references” to speak favorably about Arnold, including the cornerback’s college football coach at Alabama, Nick Saban.The Hard Knocks episode also showed Schneider talking with Arnold’s agent, Nicole Lynn, to make the agreement happen.
