There’s one obvious piece of advice for the Hawaii women’s volleyball team three games into Joshua Walker’s tenure as head coach.Be ready. All but one player saw the court during the season-opening Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic last week in which Hawaii went 1-2 to open the Walker era.Nine of the 15 players on the roster played in at least 10 of the opening 12 sets in which UH defeated Georgia Southern and took then-No. 21 Baylor to five before getting swept by San Diego on Sunday.Senior Tali Hakas was one of six players to play in all 12 sets. She did not start in Sunday’s loss to the Toreros but was summoned off the bench quickly when the Rainbow Wahine got off to a poor start.“That’s the game. Everybody has a place on the team and it’s beautiful to see that everybody can contribute,” Hakas said Tuesday. “That’s the beauty that we have on this team this year. The job is to be ready at any time and to be ready to show up when you have to.”Hawaii returns to the court tonight for the first of three matches in four days in the Outrigger Invitational at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.Hawaii will open with Utah Tech tonight at 7 and then host Loyola Marymount on Friday and UC San Diego to close the tournament on Sunday. The Trailblazers, who went 2-1 to start the season, are coached by Camilla Hafoka, a Kahuku alumna, and have two Kamehameha graduates on the roster in libero Kaleinani Watson and setter Marley Roe.UH will finish the tournament on Sunday against UC San Diego, which Hawaii beat twice last year in its final season in the Big West. The Toreros are led by first-year head coach Spencer McLachlin, a Punahou alumnus who was an assistant coach for one season at UH under Charlie Wade for the men’s program in 2015.He was replaced a year later by Walker after taking a job at California for the women’s team.Hawaii reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time in a long time in McLachlin’s lone season on the staff. Two years later, UH reached the NCAA national semifinals.“I like to joke that I was able to help set the table and then (Walker) was able to take it to the next level,” McLachlin said Tuesday before the team flew to Hawaii on Wednesday. “Our careers have kind of mirrored each other. He was a year older than me and so we redshirted and we battled for four years in college and then actually we got to go overseas and we ended up playing in the same league in the same country in Greece. I have a lot of respect for Josh.”UH has never lost in 11 meetings against the Toreros and is 8-3 all-time against LMU.Tonight’s match against Utah Tech is the first meeting between the two schools.Hawaii sophomore Maeli Cormier, who is one of seven newcomers and six international players on UH’s roster, came off the bench to provide seven kills in 10 swings to help UH secure its season-opening victory.A transfer from Oregon State, where she made the West Coast Conference All-Freshman Team last year, Co
