“He is a goalkeeper who interests us” — Juventus plot summer move for Emiliano Martinez

Juventus have reiterated their continued interest in signing Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez this summer as part of a broader rebuild aimed at bringing in an experienced goalkeeper. The Italian giants have identified Martinez as their top target, with club chief executive and general manager Giovanni Carnevali confirming that the option remains on the table, though he warned that several potential targets have been quoted with “unrealistic figures.” “Martinez is playing at the World Cup, so we have to wait and see,” Carnevali told a Sky event. “He is a goalkeeper who interests us. However, I reiterate what I said earlier about Juventus: there could be many opportunities. We need to evaluate things carefully, especially now, given that valuations for some players are excessively high—unrealistic figures.” Sky Sports Italy has reported that Juventus board members are set to meet this week to assess the viability of signing Martinez. The 33-year-old Argentina international is currently with the world champions at the World Cup, as La Albiceleste advanced to the quarter-finals following a dramatic comeback victory over Egypt. If Martinez proves unattainable, Juventus are weighing alternatives, including Tottenham Hotspur shot-stopper Guglielmo Vicario, who is expected to depart Spurs and return to Serie A this summer. Earlier in the window, Juventus had explored a potential deal for Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, but the Reds rejected the approach, with Alisson expected to see out the remainder of his contract at Anfield. His deal runs until 2027.
