Miami has assembled one of the strongest rosters in the Eastern Conference, but the front office is still looking to make a few more additions.Right now, the Heat have significant interest in adding four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson.“Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson, a five-time All Star and the fourth-most prolific three-point shooter in NBA history, has emerged as a player of strong interest to the Miami Heat, multiple sources said in recent days. The Heat has interest in adding Thompson whether LeBron James joins the Heat or not, a source said,” Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson wrote.In fact, acquiring Thompson remains Miami’s top priority this offseason.“They hope not. The Miami Heat’s number one priority right now is to acquire shooting. And they found their No. 1 target for that…Klay Thompson. The problem is Klay Thompson has one year left on his Mavs contract so they’re exploring whether they can trade for him, whether this could end up in a buyout, we’ll see over the next several weeks,” ESPN’s Shams Charania said.While Thompson remains the Heat’s primary target, the organization has also been in discussions with other veteran free agents. Miami has held conversations with DeMar DeRozan and Bradley Beal regarding potential deals.“Among the free agents currently available who the Heat has already shown some level of interest in are veteran guard Bradley Beal and veteran forward DeMar DeRozan,” Miami Herald’s Anthony Chiang wrote. “The Heat has had discussions with the representatives for both players, according to league sources.”Adding either player would provide another offensive boost, while signing both would significantly strengthen Miami’s scoring and perimeter shooting. The Heat have made it clear they want to continue improving their offense, and both veterans would help accomplish that goal.Beal and DeRozan have combined to earn $645 million in NBA contracts throughout their careers.
