​BUIES CREEK — Campbell University has announced that Adam Hepker has joined Jimmie Williams’ coaching staff as an assistant coach. Hepker arrives at The Creek after four seasons as the head coach at MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU), his alma mater and the same school that shaped both Hepker and Williams.
“We are thrilled that Coach Hepker is coming to Campbell,” Williams said. “He is a proven winner, both as a player and as a head coach. Hep and I share the same alma mater, MidAmerica Nazarene University. Our careers in this profession were inspired by the model provided by our coach, Coach Rocky Lamar. I’m six years older than Hep, so our paths crossed first when he was in middle school and I was in college running Coach Lamar’s summer camp. He is one of the best to wear a Pioneer jersey. He helped win a national championship and earned numerous other individual honors as a player. We’ve stayed close over the years and have thường connected at Final Fours and during road recruiting. He fits Campbell perfectly, even beyond our shared history. He is an exceptional person who loves Jesus, cherishes his family, and has a deep passion for coaching and developing young men. He brings a competitive spirit that I’ve always admired. I’m excited for his wife Amy and their three children—Brenley, Bryson, and Brooklyn—to join us in this community. During his four seasons at MNU, Hepker guided the Pioneers to a 77-42 overall record, including a 62-28 mark in conference play. The 2023-24 season saw MNU post a standout 25-6 overall record with a 22-2 league slate, securing the outright regular-season conference championship. Before taking the helm at MNU, Hepker spent four years as the lead assistant at Ottawa University in Arizona (2017-2021). He also served as an assistant at Grand View University (2015-2017), helping the Vikings reach the NAIA title game in 2016.
Hepker began his coaching career at MidAmerica Nazarene, working as an assistant from 2010 to 2015 after concluding his playing career. During his first stint at MNU, he contributed to three NAIA title-game appearances and helped the program develop multiple All-America players. He earned three NAIA All-America honors as a player at MNU, was named Heart of America Conference Player of the Year twice, and capped his college career with the 2007 NAIA National Championship and Tournament MVP honors.
Hepker’s recruitment and development philosophy centered on fostering character, growth, and a competitive mindset, all while emphasizing the values that have defined his career. His extensive experience as a player and coach at the NAIA level has prepared him to mentor Campbell’s student-athletes as they pursue excellence on and off the court.
