Here’s another opinion on McKinley-Massillon football rivalry | Letter

I had to smile when I read the letter to the editor “Massillon-McKinley isn’t really a rivalry anymore.” As the old adage goes, an opinion is like a certain body orifice: Everybody has one. Furthermore, that writer’s opinion is protected by the First Amendment, just as flag burning is.The question remains, is Ohio State and Michigan no longer a rivalry? Are the Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers no longer a rivalry? There is at least one glaring mistake in that writer’s opinion: McKinley will never want to be like Massillon. Both programs have different philosophies. McKinley is in Division I. Massillon chooses to remain in Division II. I wish the Massillon program well.If the truth be told, the McKinley-Massillon game is much more important to Massillon.Furthermore, a bit of research on the writer’s part would have revealed to him that Canton McKinley has had more players in the NFL than any other high school in Ohio.Rest assured that Canton McKinley was, is and always will be the place “where champions are made and success is a tradition.”As an insider, I am proud to be a Canton McKinley graduate.Gust Callas, Meyers LakeThis article originally appeared on The Repository: Here’s another opinion on McKinley-Massillon football rivalry | Letter
