After setting a course and tournament record on Thursday, Tyler Watts kept up his stellar play on Friday, June 26, to retain the lead the 64th Northeast Amateur at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford.
The Huntsville, Alabama, teen will enter Saturday’s final round atop the leaderboard at 12-under after shooting a 69 in the third round. Jay Leng Jr., of San Diego, sits in second place at 8-under and Logan Reilly of Lovettsville, Virginia, is third at 7-under, while five golfers are tied for fourth place.
Watts’ 9-under 60 on Thursday was a new record at Wannamoisett, and in the Northeast Amateur.,

Previous tournament winners include Collin Morikawa (2017), Dustin Johnson (2007), Luke Donald (2001, 2001), Ben Crenshaw (1973) and many more who went on to professional careers. Saturday’s fourth and final round tees off at 7 a.m., with closing ceremonies set for 3 p.m.
