It looks like we’re nearing a decision for LeBron James. On the eve of free agency opening, the 41-year-old announced his intention to move on from the Los Angeles Lakers. Since then, a rabid competition has overtaken a good chunk of NBA teams. However, so far, no clear-cut direction has been established. As a result, every roster is trying its best to recruit the four-time MVP. The latest pitch, that too publicly, came from the Minnesota Timberwolves.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementEven before the offseason truly got underway, the rumblings were clear. Starting with the two teams in the NBA Finals, both the San Antonio Spurs and the New York Knicks seemed like potential landing spots for James.Simultaneously, a reunion with his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers was always on the cards. So was a reunion with the Miami Heat, where he won two championships, and who had also traded for Giannis Antetokounmpo to emerge as legitimate contenders in the East.Throughout that time, the rumor mill also connected him to the Golden State Warriors, where he could team up with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green and have a storybook end to his career.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementBut more recently, two other teams have joined the mix: the Philadelphia 76ers and the Timberwolves. The former, fresh off trading for Jaylen Brown in exchange for Paul George, see themselves as a contender in the Eastern Conference.MORE: LeBron James Is ‘Reaching Out and Talking to Players’ of Multiple NBA Teams Before Major Free Agency Decision, Insider ReportsAs a result, Bob Myers, who remains affiliated with the organization, thanks to his presidential role in Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, made a direct pitch to James while making an appearance on the “Game Over” podcast, hosted by his close friend and agent, Rich Paul. Now, it was Minnesota’s turn, and they employed a similar strategy. However, his explanation for the move was relatively simple.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement“I think the recruitment is this team. Obviously, he’s an unbelievable player, so whatever decision he makes is probably the right one. There’s a lot going on when you are as great as he is. You should have a lot of optionality.”However, specifically for the Timberwolves, Connelly laid out exactly what the team had to offer. “I think when you look at our team, it is hard not to be excited about what we have. We have the best coach. We have amazing fans. The last couple of years, our success has been as good as anybody outside of the guys that have won it all.”Continuing, he added, “I think this is a place where we have a lot of fun, we win a lot of games. And we’re trying to change the narrative of how this organization is viewed. So we’re kind of proud of who we are. Certainly, wherever LeBron ends up is going to make that place much, much bett
