Houston Astros call up Ronel Blanco, Jake Meyers as MLB rosters expand

The Houston Astros recalled right-hander Ronel Blanco and outfielder Jake Meyers from Triple-A Sugar Land with rosters expanding to 28 players on Tuesday.Blanco was recalled to start Tuesday’s game against the Chicago White Sox. Blanco made his season debut July 20 in his return from elbow surgery and made five appearances with a 7.71 ERA before being optioned to Triple-A.Meyers, the Astros’ opening-day center fielder, was sent to Triple-A in early July. He has a .213 average and .594 OPS in 54 major-league games this season and adds outfield depth for the Astros, who added center fielder Daulton Varsho at the trade deadline.SubscribeThere’s more to Houston with the Chronicle.
