The 2.1 million average is a noticeable step up from the 1.8 million viewers who watched the Sonoma race on TNT Sports the prior weekend, a gain achieved despite Chicagoland’s year-long absence from Cup racing since 2019, when the Illinois oval was removed from the schedule. The homecoming weekend built significant anticipation, with fans filling the grandstands and the race delivering plenty of action as drivers navigated a track many in the current field had limited or no prior experience racing on.
