The NFL Network has begun its countdown of the Top 100 players of 2026, as voted on by the players, and so far none of the Pittsburgh Steelers have cracked the list in the first 20 picks. This isn’t shocking given the team’s 2025 performance, where its standout players underwhelmed. It does, however, prompt speculation about how many Steelers might eventually appear on the Top 100. For this projection, two names stand out: edge defender T.J. Watt and defensive tackle Cameron Heyward. These two are the only Steelers players with enough clout to be plausible Top 100 contenders, even though neither enjoyed a top-tier season recently. They’ve already appeared on CBS Sports’ Top 100 and ESPN’s Top 100, making it plausible that Watt and Heyward will land spots, while a well-regarded but less well-known player like center Zach Frazier may miss out due to lower name recognition.
The Steelers’ best showing in the NFL Top 100 came in 2018, following a 13-3 campaign, when six players from the team made the list, including two within the Top 5. The 2018 results were:
No. 2: Antonio Brown (WR)
No. 5: Le’Veon Bell (RB)
No. 18: Ben Roethlisberger (QB)
No. 44: David DeCastro (OG)
No. 47: Ryan Shazier (ILB)
No. 48: Cameron Heyward (DT)
